Your Cutting Care Guide

How to care for your cutting

Keep it in water (for now)

Your cutting already has roots, which is the hardest part done.

Keep it in clean water, making sure:

  • The roots stay fully submerged

  • No eaves are sitting in the water

Top up the water every few days.

Keep in bright, indirect light

Place your cutting somewhere with good natural light, but out of harsh direct sun.

  • Near a window - soft, filtered light

Refresh the water regularly

Change the water every week.

This keeps things clean and gives your cutting the best chance to keep growing roots.

*Bonus step, want to really nourish your plant? Every water change add some of this plant food.

It’s what I used in the water to grow them.

When to pot it

Once the roots are around 5 - 10cm long, it’s ready to move into soil.

There’s no rush though! You can actually leave it in water longer if you like.

Potting your plant

When you’re ready:

  • Use a good quality indoor potting mix

  • Choose a pot with drainage

  • Keep the soil lightly moist (not soaking)

The first couple of weeks are about settling in, so be gentle with it.

What I personally use

You absolutely don’t need anything fancy - but if you want to give your cutting the best start, this is what I use:

  • Indoor plant food (this is what I used to grow your cutting)

  • A quality potting mix

  • Simple nursery pots with drainage
