Why I’m No Longer A Wedding Florist
(and what I’ve chosen to do instead)
For five beautiful years, I had the absolute honour of creating florals for some of the most love-filled, joy-soaked days.
Weddings were my world - early mornings, wild blooms, emotional first looks, and so many heart-tugging moments I’ll never forget.
But over time… something began to shift.
What once lit me up started to feel heavy.
The long days, the constant rush, the emotional energy - it all added up.
I was tired. Creatively, physically, emotionally.
And beneath it all, I found myself craving a slower kind of beauty. Something more intentional. Something more sustainable.
Then came the plants.
At first, they were just a side offering - a gentle alternative for couples who didn’t feel drawn to flowers. A sustainable alternative to flowers - and the love for the plants grew. I saw how deeply people connected with them. How they made a space feel not just styled… but alive.
And something clicked.
There’s a kind of calm that only living plants can bring.
They’re quiet. Grounded. Purposeful.
And they offered me a way to create beauty without the waste - without the pressure of everything being perfect for one fleeting day.
So I listened to the nudge.
I stepped away from weddings.
Not because I didn’t love them - I truly did. But because I had found something else that I loved more. Something that aligned with where I wanted to grow next.
Now, I design large-scale, luxury plant installations as a Perth plant stylist, working with private homes, weddings, real estate, and corporate spaces.
Through The Botanic Edit, we offer Perth plant hire for events and environments that deserve to feel elevated, natural and alive - without relying on throwaway styling or cut flowers.
Still design-led. Still heart-first. But with a deeper commitment to sustainability, longevity, and meaningful impact in the spaces we touch.
I’ll always be grateful for the couples, the florals, and the love stories.
They were the foundation of everything.
But this new chapter - one rooted in living design, eco values and local connection here in Perth - feels like coming home.
